The wars of the Vilhon Reach have taught both man and elf the fortune and folly of conflict. They have also taught grand Faerûn that the cost of war exceeds the blood spilled on the battlefield.

Interested in getting involved in the wiki? Check out our new Editing Guide and Manual of Style, the complete guide to working on the Forgotten Realms Wiki. Learn about the editing interfaces, wiki style and formatting, templates, references, effective writing approaches, and more. It should answer most of your questions, and we'll gladly answer the rest.
The codes and techniques of wiki editing can seem daunting, with a lot to get a handle on, but the basics of everyday editing are quick and easy to learn. Nevertheless, whether a would-be editor who is new to wikis entirely or an old hand who is simply new to the FRW, we encourage all new editors to take things one step at a time, to learn each new aspect as they go, and level-up as an FRW editor. While there is no checklist to follow, do keep this approach in mind as you get started.

Larloch - Carl Critchlow
Larloch was a Netherese male human and a lich. He was the former Sorcerer-King of the enclave of Jiksidur in ancient Netheril and later the master of the Warlock's Crypt and Shadow King of its undead inhabitants. He was one of the oldest non-draconic beings in Faerûn and one of its most powerful mages, as well as one of the few surviving Netherese sorcerer-kings.

A lich of extreme age, Larloch's body was greatly decayed, leaving only his white-boned skeleton, with two orbs of red light in place of eyes. Streaks of emerald energy moved about his body, and at least two dozen ioun stones floated around his skull. He was also insane, his mind affected by his extreme age. Sometimes he could be calm and even whimsical. Other times he was crazed, snarling and launching spells at random.

Larloch possessed incredible power and was a superintelligent genius. He sought only greater arcane Art and was a talented and cunning inventor of new spells, magic items, and magical techniques and strategies. He forged the Death Moon Orb artifact. He was a master of curse magic, and modified many of his own spells and abilities in surprising ways. He enjoyed inflicting horrible transformations and curses on those who failed him or trespassed in his tower. He also performed cruel necromantic experiments on captured travelers.

Souls for the Taking
Souls for the Taking: The Return of Larloch Book 1 by Ed Greenwood and Rhys Yorke is a novella and sourcebook released on January 16, 2026, on Dungeon Masters Guild. It includes write-ups for several of the characters, stats for a new monster, the bone colossus; a spell, and a magic item compatible with the 5th-edition (revised) Dungeons & Dragons® rules, with a detailed coverage of Scornubel in 1501 DR.

Three strangers. One cursed treasure. And something ancient stirring in the dark.

When their caravan is slaughtered on the Trade Way, Velsaya the sharp-tongued sorceress, Horngrim the pragmatic Dalesman, and Gloth the cynical dragonborn steal what everyone else died for: forbidden pages inscribed by a dark goddess, whispering revelations never meant for mortal eyes.

Secrets that could shatter kingdoms. Knowledge half of Faerûn would kill to claim—and the other half would kill to destroy.

Now the Xanathar's agents are hunting them. Mercenary death-squads. Soul-harvesting night hags. And worse things that wear the shapes of men. The three survivors have one choice: trust each other or die alone. But something far older is watching. Something that has been dead for centuries—and sees them not as prey, but as the instruments of its return.

The Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set is the official beginner's guide to 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons. As well as a rule book, the boxed set contains a set of polyhedral dice, characters sheets, and the Lost Mine of Phandelver adventure.

The adventure takes place in the Neverwinter region of the Sword Coast, and the characters are tasked to escort mining supplies to Phandalin. Rumored to exist somewhere near Phandalin is the legendary Wave Echo Cave. During their escort quest, the adventurers are quickly assaulted by the Cragmaw tribe of goblinoids. They later find out that the dwarf who set them on the task, Gundren Rockseeker, has been captured by the same tribe that assaulted them. Their task is to rescue Gundren, and find out what he has learned about the mysterious cave. Throughout their adventure, the characters can seek out the Forge of Spells or even take on the young green dragon, Venomfang.

  • A mountebank was a rogue who relied on deception, charm, and confidence schemes rather than stealth or brute force. Masters of disguise and fast talk, they operated as con artists, quacks, and swindlers, often traveling from city to city to stay ahead of their victims and the law.
  • Sir Waddlelot was a heroic penguin adventurer who waddled into the frozen north at the dawn of the 16th century DR. Though small in stature and occasionally short on grace, he never lacked courage, charging headlong into danger while inspiring his allies with inspirational honks.
  • Skitt was a hair- and beardless half-dwarf mercenary and merchant who rose through the ranks of the Iron Throne to become a Lesser Arm. A skilled fighter and shrewd businessman, he helped manage trade routes and caravans until the Throne's collapse, ultimately being murdered by the Zhentarim.
  • The City Watch was Ravens Bluff's law enforcement force, responsible for maintaining order, investigating crimes, and protecting both the city and nearby communities. Overseen by the Chief Constable, it operated through specialized branches including the Merchant Watch, the Nightwatch, and the Sewer Brigade.
  • A shrine to Saint Aganna was built in Hlondeth in honor of its namesake, a healer who gave her life tending to plague victims. Over the centuries, the shrine fell into ruin, concealing a secret entrance to yuan-ti-infested catacombs beneath the city.
  • Living scrolls were creatures disguised as ordinary written scrolls. Though capable of overwhelming physically focused adventurers and clerics, they were highly vulnerable to arcane magic and largely defenseless against wizards and many non-humanoid foes.
  • An ecalypse was a six-legged, shadowy equine native to the Shadowfell, where they roamed in large herds. Wild and notoriously difficult to tame, they could become fiercely loyal mounts, granting riders supernatural abilities such as incorporeality, telepathic communication, and even travel between planes.
