Adventurers' Tales

Current Clack
The love of money is the root of all evil. (Just ask Mammon.) But having just a little won't hurt…
- We've hit 61,000 articles! Created by SunderedShor, the lucky milestone article is, uh, underpants. Don't worry, it's brief(s).
- What, another long-delayed current clacks? Well, let's get into it. We've voted and decided that 2026 is the Year of Markets! Expect to see a surplus of articles on merchants and staff; places of business; costers, companies, and guilds; goods and gear; mercantile matters and trade gods; and other things of that ilk.
- Speaking of which, we've sold out! If you're shopping online, consider buying through an affiliate link on one of our pages for a sourcebook, novel, e-book, tie-in, or video game to give us a cut! Among others, we have DriveThruRPG, DMs Guild, GOG, and our own storefront on Bookshop.org. And don't forget to get your copy of our own first book, The Forgotten Realms Wiki Presents Juniper's Companion to Venturesome Cookery. Support a wiki, or an underemployed wiki editor, today!
- Now on with the clacks, in this special bumper-crop double-sided edition (come back later to see the others).
- We hail several few scribes: Dragon7299 had an encounter with Venger and a kitsune kasumi in the once-peaceful hamlet of River's Run; TheTwitchSniper was avenged by Hoarite cleric Nicco; JacobVardy took a dip with the kuo-toa at the Holy Mother Cauldron, while Rraze94 swam in the Shadowsea; Una Malys studied the King-Killer shield; Taicanium documented Mystran cleric Lenore De Hurst; Aidin chris stocked the menageries with grease elementals, cursed imps, gilded minotaurs, and more; Asura9912 followed a ley line to Halfling Vale and found a smudgepot of dusk; Stove714 raided the liquor cabinets, sampling whiskeys, Bluetooth Ale, moonwine, and many others; and Orrgrim venerated the great sapphire wyrm Charisma.
- We also welcome Caden019, who explored Waterdeep and met some of its citizens, like the Knights of the Sword Coast and wizard apprentice Branta Myntion, as well studying the legal system and temples. Caden then headed to Skullport via the South Sea Caves and dined at the fancy Worm's Gullet restaurant.
- Finally we say well met to Lgls333, who went hobnobbing with the goblinkin of the North, meeting the Spine Breakers bugbear tribe, the hobgoblin chieftain Glargulnir of the Frost Hills, the goblin king Asglarek of Chalarstaukh in the Rauvin Mountains, and Queen Nargharab and the Malauthar, rulers of the sinister goblin realm of Malauth.
- Now, as they say farewell in Amn, good business!

A lich of extreme age, Larloch's body was greatly decayed, leaving only his white-boned skeleton, with two orbs of red light in place of eyes. Streaks of emerald energy moved about his body, and at least two dozen ioun stones floated around his skull. He was also insane, his mind affected by his extreme age. Sometimes he could be calm and even whimsical. Other times he was crazed, snarling and launching spells at random.
Larloch possessed incredible power and was a superintelligent genius. He sought only greater arcane Art and was a talented and cunning inventor of new spells, magic items, and magical techniques and strategies. He forged the Death Moon Orb artifact. He was a master of curse magic, and modified many of his own spells and abilities in surprising ways. He enjoyed inflicting horrible transformations and curses on those who failed him or trespassed in his tower. He also performed cruel necromantic experiments on captured travelers.

Three strangers. One cursed treasure. And something ancient stirring in the dark.
When their caravan is slaughtered on the Trade Way, Velsaya the sharp-tongued sorceress, Horngrim the pragmatic Dalesman, and Gloth the cynical dragonborn steal what everyone else died for: forbidden pages inscribed by a dark goddess, whispering revelations never meant for mortal eyes.
Secrets that could shatter kingdoms. Knowledge half of Faerûn would kill to claim—and the other half would kill to destroy.
Now the Xanathar's agents are hunting them. Mercenary death-squads. Soul-harvesting night hags. And worse things that wear the shapes of men. The three survivors have one choice: trust each other or die alone. But something far older is watching. Something that has been dead for centuries—and sees them not as prey, but as the instruments of its return.Featured Source

The adventure takes place in the Neverwinter region of the Sword Coast, and the characters are tasked to escort mining supplies to Phandalin. Rumored to exist somewhere near Phandalin is the legendary Wave Echo Cave. During their escort quest, the adventurers are quickly assaulted by the Cragmaw tribe of goblinoids. They later find out that the dwarf who set them on the task, Gundren Rockseeker, has been captured by the same tribe that assaulted them. Their task is to rescue Gundren, and find out what he has learned about the mysterious cave. Throughout their adventure, the characters can seek out the Forge of Spells or even take on the young green dragon, Venomfang.

- A mountebank was a rogue who relied on deception, charm, and confidence schemes rather than stealth or brute force. Masters of disguise and fast talk, they operated as con artists, quacks, and swindlers, often traveling from city to city to stay ahead of their victims and the law.
- Sir Waddlelot was a heroic penguin adventurer who waddled into the frozen north at the dawn of the 16th century DR. Though small in stature and occasionally short on grace, he never lacked courage, charging headlong into danger while inspiring his allies with inspirational honks.

Wild and notoriously difficult to tame, they could become fiercely loyal mounts, granting riders supernatural abilities such as incorporeality, telepathic communication, and even travel between planes.
